The Fraser Institute is a BC-based think tank, and it has existed for about 40 years. One of their ongoing projects is to rank schools, based on publically-available data, in order to encourage choice and competition between schools. Some educators have debated whether or not the data points used provide the best possible ranking, but the Institute’s effort to measure the effectiveness of schools and to give parents information which they can use to make decisions about programming is quite laudable.
