A vigil was held at the Alberta legislature yesterday to address the problem of bullying - in schools, on the internet, and in all other environments. You can read the story here. The legislature will resume next week, and is expected to pass strong anti-bullying legislation as part of a new education act. As noted in an earlier post, while we want to make sure that the government avoids a one-size-fits-all approach to combating bullying, we support all efforts which effectively address this serious problem. Typically those efforts will start at the local level, and the government can help to empower schools and community groups to make a difference in this area.
